Already four generations, Business Debruyne, situated in Ardooie (Belgium), has been working in flax. The main activity is the growing, harvesting and scutching of straw flax into qualitative and homogeneous layers of fiber. The flax fiber is exported to spinning mills all over the world. Tradition, Know-How and Experience In the beginning of the twentieth century, Cyriel Debruyne started his flax-activities. He invested in a small processing machine and rented some land. Gradually, he increased his activities, assisted by his two sons, Albert and Andr?. Albert and Andr? developed further the business, mainly in the technology of water retted flax. They gave their know-how and experience to Etienne and Frank, the two suns of Albert. Etienne and Frank developed the business, mainly in the technology of dew retted flax. Under their management, Debruyne extended her activities and is today an important flax growing and scutching mill in the European Union. Etienne Debruyne runs now the company and a new generation is preparing itself to continue the flax-business.
